Open Monday through Friday from 7 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 8 am to noon. After hours by appointment.

HISTORY

This longtime business was started by H. D. Kemmann as a blacksmith shop and farm implement store in 1875. H. D. Kemmann and Sons incorporated in 1909 and in 1923 began selling the Chevrolet line of cars and trucks. In 1970, Donald Meier, an employee since 1950, became an associate with the Chevrolet dealership. In 1979, Meier and the late Tom Green, a former salesman for Kemmanns, purchased the building which now houses the offices and showroom. They remodeled and renovated the building, which once was a service station on the Lincoln Highway. Kemmann's added Tom Schwarz as a salesman in May 1998 and currently has six employees.

Today, Kemmann Chevrolet continues to sell and service Chevrolet cars and trucks, and recently received the Century Award from both the Iowa and National Auto Dealers' Associations, given to dealerships who have operated within the same family for over 100 years. Kemmann's is the fourth oldest car dealership in the United States.
