HISTORY
Lowden's American
Legion Post was founded by World War I veterans on Jan. 10, 1920.
The group was originally named Yankee Run Post; eventually,
the name was changed to Lillis-Deerberg Post, as it is known today.
Meetings take place on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the American
Legion Hall.
The Lillis-Deerberg
Post has sponsored an annual beef supper since 1993. The post played
an integral role in the organization of the Avenue
of Flags, which began in 2003. In 2004, a mural was painted on the
side of the Legion hall. This beautiful mural features military service
emblems and insignias, flags, and the lyrics to "The Star-Spangled
Banner."
