- Lowden's youth
are educated in the North Cedar School District, a progressive school
system comprised of students from Lowden, Clarence, Stanwood and
Mechanicsville. The school
district, which is affiliated with the Grant Wood Area Education
Agency from Cedar Rapids, offers a fine balance of academics, fine
arts and athletics. Enrollment is approximately 1,000 students.

and Preschool
- Little
Home Learning Center has offered reliable and dependable day care for
infants and children in the Lowden area since 1993. Little Home
is licensed
by the Department
of
Human Services to serve children ages six weeks through
the 5th grade. Preschool and Pre Kindergarten
instruction is also available to youngsters in the Lowden community,
as are before- and after-school programs and a summer program for
school-age children. A foundation for successful school experiences is created in a relaxed
and healthy atmosphere. Little
Home provides young children with high quality early learning experiences
that focus on the
development
of the whole child. Their hands-on learning experiences will develop
the child physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually. Little
Home is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The staff
is First Aid/C.P.R. certified and receives continual education.

- The
Lowden Public Library is located at 605 Main St. The Library maintains
a selection of adult best sellers, children's award-winning books, videos,
games and research books. Services available include the Inter-Library
Loan Program, a copy machine, a micro-film reader, a monthly story hour
and a summer reading program.
HOURS
Monday: 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Tuesday: 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 pm.
Wednesday: 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 pm.
Saturday: 9 a.m. to noon
