OF LOWDEN CITY COUNCIL, REGULAR MEETING, MONDAY, JANUARY 7,
2008, 5:30 PM
The regular meeting
of the Lowden City Council was called to order by Mayor Dan Hamdorf.
Council members present on roll call: Galen Conrad, Chuck Ryan, Jim
Olsen, Lisa Decker, Judy Tucker. Visitors: Gene Hamdorf, Betty Jaeger,
Pat Kroemer.
M/S Ryan, Decker to approve the minutes of the 12-3-07 meeting. Ayes: All.
M/S Conrad, Ryan to approve payment of the bills as presented. Ayes: All.
Betty Jaeger was present to discuss the portion of sidewalk in front of her house
that was taken out by the City for tree and stump removal. She questioned why
she was responsible for sidewalk replacement cost. Conrad said the sidewalk was
not the City’s responsibility. Olsen thought the City should pay for it
since we took it out. After discussion, M/S Decker, Olsen to split the cost of
replacing two squares of sidewalk in front of Jaeger’s house, when weather
permits. Ayes: Ryan, Olsen, Decker, Tucker. Nays: Conrad.
Mayor Hamdorf made the 2008 Committee appointments as follows:

City Council decided
to waive funding this year from the IDOT for replacement of the 8th Street bridge.
Approximate cost would be $225,000 with the City paying for 20%.
M/S Decker, Olsen to approve the monthly finance report. Ayes: All.
City Council appointed Bob Tucker as a trustee for the Lowden Library Board.
Council reviewed the annual budget for WGML.
M/S Ryan, Decker to purchase a water testing meter at an approximate cost of
$1125, as requested by Gene Hamdorf. Ayes: All.
Gene Hamdorf will contact a supplier for information about a radio read system
for reading water meters.
Mayor Hamdorf will speak to two residents regarding abandoned/junk cars on properties.
Council set January 28, 2008, 6:00 PM, for the FY09 budget meeting.
M/S Ryan, Olsen to adjourn @ 6:17 PM. Ayes: All.
