OF LOWDEN CITY COUNCIL, SPECIAL MEETING, MONDAY, JANUARY 24,
2005, 6:45 PM
The
special meeting of the Lowden City Council was called to order by
Mayor Reuben Wenndt. Councilmembers present on roll call: Conrad,
Gottschalk, Hamdorf, Decker. Absent: Kroemer. Visitors: Jan Olsen,
Gene Hamdorf, Pat Kroemer, Karen Hart.
Council discussed items to be considered for the FY06 budget.
Mayor informed the council the overhead door at the rear of the library needs
to be replaced. A new door will be ordered from Witte Lumber Co. at an approx.
cost of $470 and the City men will install the door.
Library Board members Karen Hart and Jan Olsen presented the library’s
annual report and their FY06 library budget request.
M/S Decker, Hamdorf to approve the Library’s budget request of $25543 for
FY06. Ayes: All.
Jan Olsen said the community will receive a Trees Forever grant again this year
and asked for a partial local match from the City. City agreed to budget $100
for this purpose.
Lowden Fire Dept. and Rescue requested the same budget amounts as last year.
Council will go out for bids for re-shingling the north shelter at Lowden Memorial
Park with bids to be returned by March 7, 12:00 PM.
Council discussed equipment purchases for FY06. They included in the budget a
new mower at $6000, a snow blade for the dump truck at an estimated $7000 and
a new 9 ft. blade for the tractor at a cost of $1000.
Discussion followed on salaries for the maintenance men and city clerk. M/S Gottschalk,
Decker to approve the following salaries: a 4.5% increase for Gene Hamdorf from
$13.14/hr. to $13.73/hr. and an increase of $50/month for insurance to $300/mo.,
a 3.5% increase for Tim Burmeister from $12.04/hr. to
$12.46/hr. and an increase of $50/month for insurance to $300/mo., a 4% increase
for Peggy Kedley from $12361.44/yr. to $12855.90/yr. and an additional $75/month
toward insurance to $125/mo., part-time mowing and garbage help will receive
$7.00/hr. and Lucille Horman, cleaning and Park help will receive $8.40/hr. Ayes:
Conrad, Hamdorf, Decker. Nays: Conrad.
A Public Hearing for adopting the FY06 budget will be held on March 7, 2005,
7:00 PM.
Next regular meeting will be February 7, 2005, 4:00 PM.
M/S Hamdorf, Decker to adjourn at 9:05 PM. Ayes: All.
