PROCEEDINGS
OF LOWDEN CITY COUNCIL, SPECIAL MEETING, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10,
2008, 5:00 PM, CITY HALL
The special meeting of the Lowden City Council
was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem Chuck Ryan. Council members present
on roll call: Tucker, Conrad, Decker, Olsen. Visitors: David Boettcher,
Derrick Lange.
Lowden Fire Department told the council they had hired someone to write a grant
application to apply for a new fire pumper which cost $219,898. If they would
be awarded the grant for the truck, the Fire Department would be responsible
for 10% of the cost of the truck, which would be approximately $22,000. The Fire
Dept. was informed recently their application is still being considered and they
needed to provide additional information, mainly, that they would be able to
pay the 10% required for the truck.
Conrad said the City could borrow the money from the bank at approximately 5%
interest.
After discussion, M/S Conrad, Tucker to have the Fire Department proceed with
their grant application knowing the 10% amount could be borrowed by the City
to finance the balance required for the truck. Ayes: Tucker, Conrad, Decker,
Olsen.
M/S Conrad, Tucker to adjourn at 5:35 PM. Ayes: Tucker, Conrad, Decker, Olsen.
