LOWDEN CITY COUNCIL
OF LOWDEN CITY COUNCIL, REGULAR MEETING, MONDAY, DECEMBER 6,
2010, 5:30 PM, CITY HALL
The regular meeting of the Lowden City Council was called to order by Mayor Dan Hamdorf. Council members present on roll call: Conrad, Ryan, Olsen, Decker, Hoffmeier. Visitors: Gene Hamdorf, Derrick Lange.
M/S Ryan, Decker to approve the minutes of the 11-1-10 meeting with the following amendment: “Councilman Conrad questioned why Lowden Rescue has not looked at purchasing a new 2010 vehicle as opposed to a 2011 model.” Ayes: All.
M/S Decker, Ryan to approve payment of the bills as presented. Ayes: All.
Council discussed the culvert/ creek bank that needs to be dug out along 5th Street
Place since dirt and silt are building up in the culvert. Council felt one-half of the property was Tom Schwarz’s responsibility and one-half would be on City property. Council thought the City and Schwarz could split the cost of digging it out. Mayor Hamdorf estimated the cost of the work at approximately $1500-$2000. Mayor said he would talk to Schwarz about the work and sharing the costs.
M/S Olsen, Hamdorf to authorize City Clerk to pay end of calendar year bills. Ayes: All.
Derrick Lange, Lowden Fire Dept., told the City Council he questioned the $6500. amount Lowden Rescue wants the Fire Dept. to pay for the old Rescue truck. Gene Hamdorf said it is a City-owned vehicle and the Fire Dept. should not have to pay Lowden Rescue for it. Council also discussed selling the old 1977 Fire Dept. equipment vehicle. City Council said they will wait until Lowden Rescue gets the new Rescue truck and decide who will pay and how much will be paid for the old Rescue truck.
M/S Decker, Olsen to approve the monthly financial report. Ayes: All.
Mayor Hamdorf said the City will look into getting sand and salt mix for streets from a different vendor next year. The mixture the City purchased this year from M & K Dust Control does not have enough salt in it and is not effective.
Council clarified that overtime pay will be paid to part-time, temporary employee, Derrick Lange, for necessary overtime work on weekends.
